I know an old man who has a mature son who is intellectually disabled. They live in a very confined space in a caravan. The difficulty for this family is that the son is 6 foot 3 and walks around hunched over in this home. No complaints are heard from the pair who still laugh and smile at life. Why? Because God has given these two awesome men HOPE in HIM and they acknowledge this daily. God's perspective on things and his nature is portrayed in Romans 4:17-18 …the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were. Against all hope, Abraham hoped and believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him. This is our God who does this! Our lives, circumstances, dreams, calling or vocations that were dead are brought to life in Jesus. Oh to have faith as Abraham did! Romans 4:20 describes this, Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God but was strengthened in His Faith and gave glory to God being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he has promised. (NIV) That's the secret for us! You should not be relying on you and your strength but knowing God (his nature and reliability) as HE has the power to do anything. The faith we need is not ours, in our strength, but given to us by the grace of God for we BELIEVE in His ability and His strength. Why not give it a go! Take that leap of faith and trust in God that the promise in Jeremiah is real and true; I have great plans for you, plans for your future. Then when it seems like nothing is happening, when the dreams are dead and I'm living in a dilapidated caravan, I can still laugh and smile and enjoy life because God is in control. He has it all in hand. The plans are being laid down and I WILL SEE IT ONE DAY. This is the FAITH and HOPE environment that I live in! Take a lesson from an old, wise and godly man. Watch this space for stories on how God has brought life to an otherwise "dead" situation. For He speaks truth and delivers on His promises! |
