One of my daughters likes BONDI RESCUE. She loves watching the interactions between the people swimming unsafely and their rescuers. On one occasion a girl was struggling in the water and by the time the lifesaver came out to rescue her, she was frantic. Because she was thrashing around in the water, the lifesaver was struggling to get her on board the surfboard in the heavy swell. He was yelling at her to no avail. In the end he had to grab her from behind and wait till she was "waterlogged" enough to calm down and be rescued. We are sometimes like that in our lives. We have things, situations or circumstances that we are struggling with but don't calm down enough to hear or see God trying to help us. He often has to wait for us to be “waterlogged” in life or for the situation to get so desperate that we are drowning before we call out for help or accept the help that has been calling out to us for a while. Our panicky efforts stop us hearing the calm voice of God. He has the solution. We need to trust in God; that He is in control and He is on the life board ready and waiting for us. Even though the swell may be huge, He will rescue us and bring us through it. In Isaiah 30:15 the bible states: In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength. (NIV) All we need to do is rest in Him. The Holy Spirit will give you strength, perseverance, fortitude, wisdom, peace, love, understanding, joy for these are his gifts. He brings them whenever he enters a home and offers them to whoever invites Him in. It could be you. It is your free choice. Be quiet, get out of the water and invite Him in. Then you will see the world and your circumstances from a whole new perspective, and see the change that God WILL evoke. He is forever breathing new life into situations- that is His gift- so why don't you invite Him in? Then we'll be seeing the sequel: Bondi Rescue Miracles! |
