As Christmas comes fast upon us, the preparations for the celebration are at the forefront of my mind. When will I have time to cook my mince pies and shortbread? Did I get enough food to feed everyone? Should I experiment in making the Christmas pudding this year, or buy the one we always buy? Then I remember that I always overeat on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, then worry about the kilos I've put on and need to exercise to take them off. So then I think about the extra time I need to find to exercise. But I really should exercise on a regular basis anyway! It's good for the body! What about the inner part of me - my soul and spirit? As I've heard it said "Prayer should be for the spirit what exercise is for the body." It keeps one in tune/fit/vital/efficient and constantly ready for the next problem in life. So my next question to myself is - have I been looking after my spirit in this busy time? Do I wait until I'm falling apart or finding life tough before I spend time with my God and get the sustenance I need? Spending time with God puts everything into perspective. I need God especially at this time so I won't get so stressed. Jesus came into the World to bring us Peace. I become efficient and focused on the right things when I take time to relate with God. So friends, remember to look after your body and your soul during this Christmas Season. |
