I'm not one for New Year resolutions because I make them whenever I feel them necessary in my life. There is no right or wrong way for making a new start. Even though lots of people do it at the beginning of a year, I just do it differently. I looked at my computer this morning and realized something. My webmail has an inbox and a draft folder, as well as sent and trash folders. Sometimes I'm expecting mail in my inbox and keep looking for it but often I find unexpected mail. These then get read and my replies are sent, trash is purged, then compositions are written and drafted or sent out immediately. My mail is checked daily. If I checked my life, my dreams (or drafts) against my inbox (expected and unexpected), discarded the trash daily and sent part of myself to family/friends/work colleagues/people in my world, I would achieve so much and actually renew my life daily. This would probably be because it would be all laid out before me. I would be able to actually see me, my life, and my goals and in doing so, change, rejoice, redo, and keep doing things accordingly. Juggling my time, motivation or lack thereof, fluctuating energy, and facing the reality of my life are things that prevent this from happening. If I did this daily, or on a consistent basis like my webmail, I would not be cluttered with unproductiveness in my life. In Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV), I read: There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. Maybe it's time! Spread ‘you’ on a piece of paper and assess what you’re doing and where you are going. Decide what is important in your life. Where does God fit in? Is He even in your life? He loves YOU and wants the best dreams, drafts and inboxes ever but He needs your email address! Sit and talk to him and send Him an email that shares YOU with Him. He is interested in YOU. He created YOU and wants to have a RELATIONSHIP with you. He wants only the best for you. And so now I am going to do what I'm suggesting and have a long email with God, laying out ME on a piece of paper to assess how things are. And yes, I know I’m late for New Years resolutions but as I shared earlier, I don't normally do them. However, God's prompting voice whispered to me through my inbox and encouraged me - its time! Is it time for you too? |
