A COMMAND TO SEEK

“Seek the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.”

(Isa 55.6)

My two-year-old granddaughter can play hide and seek forever. She will hide in the same spot that is super obvious until I find her and then hide in exactly the same spot again and again. She loves to be found and she keeps on asking for more!

In the same way as my granddaughter loves to be found, so does God.

In the Scripture today we are told to seek the Lord while he may be found and call upon Him while he is near.

This actually sounds like a command rather than an option. God wants us to seek Him because He loves to be found.

As Christian people we spend our lives drawing closer to God.

In the times when we make the choice not to seek God, life can be a lot harder and we can lose our direction altogether.

It seems as if it is a choice to seek God or not seek God but as we hear in this scripture God commands or tells us to seek Him.

God has created us to seek Him and will continue doing that forever.

I meet many people who are lost and can’t find their way and if that is you –  Don’t give up – Seek the Lord!!

I know this is the only way forward.

Seek the Lord every day because He loves to be found!

PRAYER

Lord God

You created us to seek you and to find you.

Thank you for reminding us that we have to be active seekers and that you want to be found time and time again.

We make this prayer in Jesus name through the power of the Holy Spirit

Amen
