Jottings from my Journal

Have you ever had a dream that you thought would never occur? Have you stuffed up your life choices so much that you have lost your dream? Well, I would like to encourage you today!

If it is a dream that God has placed in your heart from the beginning, then it is not over until you either decide you will not “go again” or God decides to change your direction.

Moses was born and placed on the river Nile in a basket because his wise mother was trying to find a way to rescue him. The Pharaoh’s daughter found him and claimed him for her own and so he was brought up in the Pharaoh’s palace. His mother was his wet-nurse and breastfed him until he was a young boy. Surely, his mother would have taught him his heritage and shared with him stories of his people?

When Moses was a young man, he saw the injustices being done to his people. He could not contain his anger and so killed an Egyptian who was mistreating a Hebrew and then he ran away. He continued running for the next 40 years. Did you hear that? Moses ran for forty years! And his life was so different to palace life. Could God have had a different plan? Maybe God put him in the palace to be the Ruler? Perhaps he was to change things from inside the hierarchy?

Was all lost? NO! Years later, God spoke to Moses again through a burning bush and said, “I have seen my oppressed people and I hear their cry, so I am sending you.”

Moses had seen and heard the cry of God’s people many years before and the dream in his heart to set them free somehow was now taking place over forty years later. This was because God had put that call in his heart from the beginning, and even though the circumstances of his life appeared that all was lost, this was not the case. Not with God.

Did you notice how Moses then started to bring up excuses not to do the job? He had lost courage and focus. God can use all circumstances and disappointments in our lives to accomplish what His plan is for our lives. The call within is still quietly pulsating. The call still has a heartbeat even if it appears dead or very faint.

Place your trust and hope in Him and all will not be lost. No matter how old you are. God can accomplish things in a snap of the fingers or with just a thought. How great is our God?

Be encouraged. I’ll say it another way. Have courage! God is with you. God is caring for you and continually calling to you and wanting you to dream your dreams because He has placed a purpose for you in your heart.

May these jottings from my journal inspire you to believe in and fall in love with Christ- the hope of the world, as stated in Jeremiah 17:7, ‘Blessed is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the Lord and whose hope and confident expectation is the Lord!’

Love always
