Life can just be so hectic sometimes! There can be a lot to juggle with work and home and family and then one thing comes in on top of another so that your thoughts are on overload. Then there are so many troubling things happening in the world around us. Sometimes the worries of the world feel like they sit squarely on my shoulders … even though they do not.
If only there was an OFF button to just turn it all off. This Lent I have been inspired by the words of Pope Francis:
“One must be ready and willing to listen and welcome God’s voice, which is hard to recognise if life is too noisy or agitated. Quiet and extended reflection is necessary if one is going to be able to go below the surface and discover the “moral and spiritual forces” at work in one’s life.”
Sometimes I’m not ready and willing to listen and welcome God’s voice because my life and the world around me are just too noisy and agitated
Jesus said to His disciples, ‘peace I leave you; my peace I give to you.’ He wasn’t talking about the two fingers up in a vee sign for peace or a quick handshake sign of peace during mass. Jesus was offering a deep peace of mind and deep peace within – which is what God has for us. He knows our hearts will be troubled, there will be problems, but assures us that we have no need to be afraid.
Don’t we want to hear His voice? Don’t we need to hear His voice? I know I do.
Find some time today to sit quietly to hear His voice in your life because only He can provide you with a deep sense of peace that will overcome any trouble or fears that we are experiencing.
PRAYER: Lord, here I am. This is me in all my imperfections and I need you today. I want to hear your voice. I need to hear your voice. Help me quieten my thoughts and worries so that I can hear your voice and experience your peace in my life today. Amen.
